Agoda Company Pte. Ltd. is a leading digital travel platform and online travel agency (OTA) that facilitates reservations for lodging, flights, ground transportation, and activities worldwide. Founded in 2005 by lifelong friends and entrepreneurs Michael Kenny and Robert Rosenstein in Phuket, Thailand, the company was built on the groundwork of early online hotel booking platforms in Asia. It sought to create an Asia-focused travel marketplace that could challenge established Western industry giants. In November 2007, Agoda was acquired by Priceline.com (now Booking Holdings Inc., NASDAQ: BKNG), integrating it into a prominent global travel portfolio alongside brands like Booking.com, Priceline, Kayak, and OpenTable. Headquartered in Singapore, Agoda operates with a highly decentralized structure across 27 markets and maintains a major Global Operations Center in Bangkok, Thailand, along with offices in over 50 locations globally. The company employs more than 7,000 professionals representing over 90 nationalities. Data and technology form the heart of Agoda’s culture, with its engineering and product teams managing massive computational scales, including processing 12 petabytes of data monthly, conducting over 1,000 live experiments daily, and running approximately 1 trillion price checks every day to ensure value-driven rates for its users. Agoda provides consumers with a comprehensive travel marketplace available in 39 languages, backed by 24/7 customer support. Its digital platform and mobile application—the latter being one of the most downloaded OTA apps in the Asia-Pacific region outside of China—offer access to a global network of over 6 million hotels, holiday properties, and private vacation rentals across more than 200 countries and territories. Additionally, the platform features over 130,000 flight routes and more than 300,000 tours, attractions, and local experiences. For its accommodation partners, Agoda offers specialized business growth tools, such as the Agoda Growth Program (AGP) and Agoda Growth Express (AGX). These initiatives leverage data-driven bidding algorithms and targeted marketing campaigns to optimize search visibility, property rankings, and return on ad spend across external pay-per-click platforms and metasearch engines. Now under the leadership of CEO Omri Morgenshtern, who took the helm in 2022 after previously serving as Chief Product Officer, Agoda focuses heavily on leveraging innovative technologies like Generative AI to deliver highly personalized travel booking experiences. As it marks over two decades of operation, the company continues to advance its core mission of leveraging best-in-class technology to help travelers see the world for less.
