Bellatrix Aerospace Private Information is a prominent private Indian deep-tech startup specializing in advanced in-space mobility and satellite propulsion systems. Founded in December 2015 by Yashas Karanam and Rohan Ganapathy Murulidhar, the company is headquartered in the aerospace and technology hub of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Incubated at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bellatrix Aerospace has emerged as a key player in the global NewSpace ecosystem, shifting its strategic focus from developing launch vehicles to mastering advanced satellite maneuvering technologies. The core operations of Bellatrix Aerospace center around the development of next-generation, eco-friendly chemical and highly efficient electric propulsion systems. Its diverse product portfolio is engineered to cater to nano, micro, and heavy satellites, spanning missions across Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Geostationary Orbit (GEO), mega-constellations, and deep-space exploration. Key proprietary products include the ARKA series, which consists of high-efficiency Hall-effect thrusters optimized for extended satellite lifespans, and the RUDRA series, recognized as India’s first high-performance green propulsion (HPGP) system designed to safely replace toxic, hydrazine-based thrusters. Additionally, the company has pioneered JAL, a microwave plasma thruster that utilizes water as a sustainable propellant. Expanding beyond individual engines, Bellatrix Aerospace develops the Pushpak Orbital Transfer Vehicle (OTV). Acting as a dedicated space taxi, Pushpak provides multi-mission orbital deployment sequences, enabling precise placement, inclination changes, and hosted payload solutions for small satellites and CubeSats. In October 2024, the company formalized a major contract with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO, to integrate Pushpak into upcoming national launch missions, significantly reducing last-mile satellite deployment costs. Furthermore, the company is actively pioneering "Project 200," a breakthrough ultra-low Earth orbit satellite platform operating below 200 kilometers that utilizes a custom air-intake electric propulsion system to counteract atmospheric drag. Financially, Bellatrix Aerospace operates as a venture-backed private entity. The company has raised an aggregate of $34.4 million across multiple funding rounds from prominent domestic and international investors, including Inflexor Ventures, Parampara Capital, and BASF Venture Capital. Its latest funding milestone was a successful Series A round completed in March 2026. Under the leadership of Co-Founder, CEO, and CTO Rohan Ganapathy Murulidhar alongside Co-Founder and COO Yashas Karanam, the company manages a specialized workforce of over 100 employees and operates one of Asia’s largest private propulsion research facilities. By successfully validating its payloads on ISRO's POEM platforms, Bellatrix Aerospace continues to advance affordable, scalable, and environmentally sustainable space logistics.
