Biological E. Limited (BE), established in 1953 during India's Swadeshi Movement, is a pioneering Indian biotechnology and biopharmaceutical company. Founded by Dr. D.V.K. Raju and Mr. G.A.N. Raju, it commenced operations as the first private sector biological products company in India and the first pharmaceuticals firm in South India, initially manufacturing liver extracts and anti-coagulants. The company gained significant global prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic by developing CORBEVAX, a recombinant protein sub-unit vaccine, and collaborating with international entities like Johnson & Johnson to manufacture single-dose vaccine candidates at its Hyderabad facilities.
