Boomi is a leading software company that pioneered the integration platform as a service (iPaaS) category. Founded in March 2000 by Rick Nucci and Brian Mozhdehi in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, the company initially focused on configuration-based on-premises middleware to link online databases for e-commerce sites. Recognizing the shifting technological landscape, Boomi launched AtomSphere in 2007, which became the industry's first cloud-native iPaaS solution, enabling businesses to build, deploy, and manage integrations using a visual, drag-and-drop interface without heavy custom coding. The company's strategic value attracted major enterprise interest, leading to its acquisition by Dell Technologies in November 2010. Under Dell, Boomi scaled its operations globally and expanded its portfolio beyond application integration to include API management, master data management, B2B/EDI partner management, and data preparation. In May 2021, private equity firms Francisco Partners and TPG Capital acquired Boomi from Dell Technologies for $4 billion, returning the company to an independent status to accelerate its growth strategies. Following its spin-off, Steve Lucas was appointed CEO in late 2022 to guide the company through its next phase of scaling.
