Cautio, operating legally as Covert Eye Technologies Private Limited, is a deep-tech visual telematics startup specializing in artificial intelligence-powered dashcams and operating system solutions tailored for commercial mobility and public transport networks in India. Founded in October 2023 by school friends Ankit Acharya (CEO) and Pranjal Nadhani (CTO), the company is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Cautio emerged out of a clear need to address road safety, transparency, and accountability gaps across complex Indian transit environments, transforming everyday vehicles into connected data nodes to mitigate accidents before they happen. The core of Cautio’s platform revolves around intelligent, dual-lens dashcam hardware coupled with its proprietary Cautio OS. This ecosystem enables the stream of real-time high-definition video coverage detailing both the vehicle cabin and external road conditions. The system features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) capabilities alongside integrated driver monitoring systems (DMS) that analyze risks concurrently. Onboard artificial intelligence models identify adverse driving behaviors—such as driver fatigue, distraction, seat belt omission, or smoking—and instantly dispatch safety alerts to fleet owners via a centralized dashboard. Fleet operators can tap into historical recordings, route playback tracking, and real-time GPS signals, or request video feeds on demand. The framework is supported by a 24/7 command center monitoring millions of kilometers across more than 50 major cities. Distinguishing itself from conventional telematics providers that charge hefty upfront hardware fees, Cautio utilizes an accessible, subscription-based business model. Fleet owners bypass immediate capital expenditures in favor of a low monthly usage fee designed to scale alongside driver earnings. This model has fueled significant traction among prominent localized network transit providers, including Namma Yatri, Cityflo, Indeanta Mobility, and Shoffr. In December 2025, Cautio expanded its scope by acquiring Bytes, an AI-powered two-wheeler safety technology startup backed by Nikhil Kamath's WTFund. This strategic acquisition integrates specialized vision-based advanced driver assistance tools to expand protection for India's massive population of vulnerable two-wheeler riders. From a capitalization standpoint, Cautio is a privately held startup that has successfully raised approximately $3.86 million in total funding across multiple early-stage investment rounds. Key institutional backers include prominent venture firms such as Antler India, 8i Ventures, AU Small Finance Bank, V3 Ventures, Builders VC, and Venture Catalysts, alongside strategic angel investors from the mobility ecosystem. The capital enables Cautio to scale its research and development, expand engineering resources for hardware localization, and deploy its systems across nationwide commercial transit operators. Employing a team of specialized engineers and data professionals, Cautio hosts its artificial intelligence dashboards and processes real-time telemetry on Amazon Web Services, processing billions of data points to pave the way toward eventual autonomous mobility infrastructure.
