CEAT Limited is a prominent Indian multinational tyre manufacturing company and serves as the flagship entity of the RPG Group, a multi-sector conglomerate with a multi-billion-dollar global turnover. Founded originally in 1924 in Turin, Italy, as Cavi Elettrici e Affini Torino (Electrical Cables and Allied Products of Turin) by Virginio Bruni Tedeschi, the company transitioned from producing electrical cables to manufacturing rubber tires following World War II. The company established its footprint in India in 1958 through a collaboration with the Tata Group, forming CEAT Tyres of India Limited. In 1982, the RPG Group acquired the Indian division, subsequently securing global rights to the brand and officially renaming the entity CEAT Limited in 1990. Headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, CEAT is currently led by Chairman Harsh Goenka, Vice Chairman Anant Goenka, and Managing Director and CEO Arnab Banerjee. The company has evolved into one of India’s largest and fastest-growing tyre manufacturers. It commands a significant market share across multiple local automotive segments, including approximately 20% of the Indian truck and light truck tyre market. CEAT produces over 41 million high-performance tyres annually, manufacturing a comprehensive range of automotive tyres, tubes, and flaps for cars, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, tractors, trailers, SUVs, auto-rickshaws, and off-highway/agricultural equipment through its specialty division. CEAT operates a robust manufacturing network consisting of multiple advanced facilities across India—including plants in Halol, Butibori, Bhandup, Nashik, Ambernath, and a major radial tire facility near Chennai—complemented by operations in Sri Lanka managed through its CEAT Kelani joint venture. In September 2025, the company expanded its global capacity by acquiring Michelin’s CAMSO Construction Compact Line Business, which added Sri Lankan manufacturing plants in Midigama and Kotugoda to its off-highway tire business. CEAT maintains state-of-the-art research and development centers in India and Germany to drive technological innovation. Financially, CEAT is publicly listed on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). For the fiscal year 2024-25, the company reported a total consolidated revenue of INR 13,02,070 lakhs (approximately INR 13,020 crore) and a Profit After Tax (PAT) of INR 47,264 lakhs. Domestically, the company relies on a massive distribution framework featuring over 5,500 dealers and 61,000 touchpoints. Globally, CEAT exports its products to over 110 countries across nine geographical clusters. The company is highly decorated, being the first tyre manufacturer outside Japan to win the prestigious Deming Prize for Total Quality Management and the first globally to receive the Lighthouse Certification from the World Economic Forum for its advanced digital manufacturing capabilities.
