Clean Science and Technology Limited (CSTL) is a globally recognized fine and specialty chemical manufacturing company headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Established on November 7, 2003, the company has grown into a leading industry player under the guidance of technocrat promoters. The company is publicly traded on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). CSTL differentiates itself by developing eco-friendly, sustainable, and cost-effective catalytic manufacturing processes, moving away from traditional multi-step chemical synthesis to advanced vapor-phase or liquid-phase technologies. This focus on green chemistry and atom economy allows the company to maintain high operating efficiencies while ensuring zero liquid discharge across its facilities. The core operations of Clean Science and Technology are categorized into three primary business segments: performance chemicals, pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates, and FMCG chemicals. Performance chemicals represent the largest share of its business, contributing over 65% of its total revenue. Within this segment, the company stands as the world's largest producer of Monomethyl Ether of Hydroquinone (MEHQ) and Butylated Hydroxy Anisole (BHA). It also manufactures Ascorbyl Palmitate (AP) and Tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ). These products serve as critical polymerization inhibitors and antioxidants in industries such as paints, inks, food, feed, and nutrition. In the Pharma & Agro Intermediates vertical, CSTL produces key chemicals like Guaiacol and Dicyclohexyl Carbodiimide (DCC), ranking among the top producers globally and holding the top position in India. These chemicals serve as vital reagents and precursors for manufacturing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), cough syrups, antiretroviral drugs, and various agrochemicals. The FMCG Chemicals segment includes the manufacturing of 4-Methoxy Acetophenone (4-MAP) and Anisole. The company holds the number one global market position for both chemicals, which are heavily utilized as UV blockers in sunscreens and as essential precursors in perfumes, cosmetics, and insect pheromones. CSTL operates an extensive infrastructure that includes four highly automated manufacturing units located at Kurkumbh, Maharashtra. The company places a heavy emphasis on continuous innovation, supported by robust in-house research and development. It operates dedicated R&D facilities staffed by over 90 scientists alongside a pilot facility designed for process commercialization. Financially, the company maintains a stable, zero-debt capital structure. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, the company reported a trailing 12-month revenue of approximately USD 108 million (or upwards of INR 800 crore) and a net income of around USD 25.9 million. Catering to a diverse global consumer base, Clean Science and Technology exports its products to over 35 countries across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, consistently aligning its growth with stringent environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
