New Delhi
Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) is a prominent Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. Incorporated in March 1988, the company commenced commercial operations in November 1989 by taking over a network of seven inland container depots from the Indian Railways. Over the decades, CONCOR has established itself as an undisputed market leader and a premier multimodal logistics solution provider, facilitating both international and domestic trade across India. Headquartered in New Delhi, India, CONCOR is publicly traded on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) under the ticker CONCOR, with the Government of India maintaining a majority stake of 54.80%. The company’s core business model is characterized by three distinct functional activities: acting as a carrier, a terminal operator, and a warehouse operator. While rail haulage remains its primary transport pillar—leveraging the extensive Indian Railways network to offer cost-competitive, long-distance freight solutions—CONCOR also provides supplementary road-fed services to ensure seamless door-to-door logistics delivery. The operational structure of CONCOR is broadly divided into two major business segments: Export-Import (EXIM) and Domestic trade. The EXIM segment serves as the primary revenue engine, handling substantial container volumes to bridge the gap between major Indian maritime gateways and the hinterland. For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, the company reported a total net revenue from operations of INR 8,881.07 crore, with rail freight income accounting for approximately 76% of total earnings. CONCOR operates a vast infrastructure network comprising over 60 Inland Container Depots (ICDs) and Container Freight Stations (CFSs) distributed nationwide. Its advanced terminals offer an array of value-added services, including transit warehousing for import/export cargo, customs-bonded warehousing that enables partial cargo delivery and deferred duty payments, and less-than-container-load consolidation services. To sustain its market dominance and support emerging trade corridors, the company is actively expanding into the development of Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) along the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). Managed under the leadership of Chairman and Managing Director Shri Sanjay Swarup, CONCOR is aggressively advancing its technology and asset modernization frameworks. The company maintains an extensive fleet of specialized high-speed container rail wagons, tens of thousands of containers, and specialized heavy machinery like reach stackers and gantry cranes. It is also executing strategic green energy and sustainability initiatives, such as introducing liquified natural gas (LNG) trucks and commercializing specialized tank containers to transition bulk cargo into low-carbon logistics networks.
