Originally incorporated as Coromandel Fertilisers Limited in October 1961, the company rebranded to its current name in September 2009 to reflect its comprehensive transition across the farming value chain. Headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana (registered office) and Chennai, Tamil Nadu (corporate headquarters), the company operates as a subsidiary of E.I.D. Parry (India) Limited, which holds a 62.82% stake. The core operations of Coromandel International are divided across major business segments: Nutrient and Other Allied Business, Crop Protection, Specialty Nutrients, and Retail. It is also the largest single super phosphate (SSP) seller in India with a market share of roughly 15%. In its Crop Protection vertical, the company manufactures a wide array of technical and formulation products, including insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides sold under more than 60 brands. It is the third-largest manufacturer of mancozeb globally, the world's leading producer of Malathion, and a major producer of Phenthoate. Coromandel has also established itself as the world's largest manufacturer of neem-based bio-pesticides and a pioneer in organic fertilizer marketing. To support its expansive business, Coromandel operates 18 strategically located, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across Indian states such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, it operates a robust rural retail network of over 1,100 "Mana Gromor" centers across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, which directly connects with and provides crop advisory, soil testing, and farm mechanization services to over 3 million farmers. Financially, Coromandel International is publicly traded on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) under the ticker COROMANDEL. For the fiscal year 2023-24, the company reported a consolidated revenue of INR 22,290 crore, employing over 13,650 people worldwide. Led by Executive Chairman Arun Alagappan and Managing Director & CEO S. Sankarasubramanian, the organization places immense emphasis on sustainability, technology integration, and corporate governance. Through targeted investments in drone manufacturing (Dhaksha Unmanned Systems), climate-smart deeptech (Ecozen), and international mining (BMCC Senegal), Coromandel continues to drive digital transformation and sustainable farming practices across India.
