Headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, DTICI emerged as a captive unit following the strategic spin-off of Daimler Truck from Mercedes-Benz AG (formerly Daimler AG), transitioning out of Mercedes-Benz Research & Development India (MBRDI). It functions as a wholly owned subsidiary of a foreign company, specifically acting as one of the largest development and innovation centers for Daimler Truck AG outside of Germany. The primary purpose of DTICI is to serve as a core backbone for technology developments and scalable innovations across all global Daimler Truck brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses, FUSO, Bharat Benz, and Setra. The organization integrates product engineering, software electronics, and information technology to advance the commercial vehicle industry. Its engineering focus spans powertrain engineering (including battery electric and hydrogen technologies), vehicle engineering, connectivity, autonomous driving, cybersecurity, big data, advanced analytics, and computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulations like crash and fuel cell testing. Additionally, its design teams focus on developing best-in-class vehicle interiors and exteriors, while its IT competencies support global digital dependencies and software-based vehicle infrastructure. Operating from its registered office at Whitefield Palms, EPIP Zone in Bengaluru, the company leverages India’s massive engineering and STEM talent pool to accelerate global product development cycles. DTICI collaborates closely with other major research networks in North America, Japan, and Germany. The facility employs a growing workforce of over 1,300 skilled engineers and professionals who work with state-of-the-art software tools and hardware labs, including a specialized System Integration Lab for buses. Financially, DTICI is well-capitalized to sustain its high-tech operations, featuring an authorized share capital of INR 1,100 crore and a paid-up capital of INR 910.73 crore. For the financial year ending March 31, 2024, the company reported an operational revenue exceeding INR 500 crore, highlighting substantial growth with a 44.11% increase in EBITDA and a 43.93% rise in book net worth over the preceding fiscal year. The leadership team driving the company's strategic vision includes Managing Director and CEO Raghavendra Prahallad Rao Vaidya (also referenced with Radhakrishnan Kodakkal as part of managing directors), alongside Chief Financial Officer Anubha Jain, Chief Human Resource Officer Harshavardhan Kundalkar, and other key board directors. Through a corporate commitment to decarbonization, digitalization, and localized market customization, DTICI actively shapes the future of zero-emission and software-driven commercial transportation globally.
