General Motors Technical Centre India Private Limited (GMTC-I) is an automotive engineering, design, and technology services organization originally established to support the global vehicle programs of its parent automotive corporation, General Motors. Incorporated on May 25, 2009, as a private limited non-government company, it is officially registered with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) in Delhi/Haryana under the corporate identification number U74200HR2009PTC074424. While its registered corporate office is located at WeWork Blue One Square, Phase IV, Udyog Vihar, Gurugram, Haryana, its primary operational footprint and specialized workforce are based out of the technology hub of Bengaluru, Karnataka, situated at the Creator Building within the International Tech Park in Whitefield. The establishment of the technical center dates back to 2003 when General Motors India initially opened its engineering operations in Bengaluru to manage local and global research, development, and vehicle engineering activities. Over the years, the facility expanded its capabilities to handle complex propulsion systems, advanced vehicle engineering, software controls development, testing, and creative vehicle design studio tasks. The center also grew to house specialized divisions managing global purchasing, financial support services, and supply chain solutions specifically dedicated to assisting General Motors operations outside of India. A major organizational shift occurred in September 2019 when global IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) entered into an agreement to acquire certain digital and engineering assets of the GM Technical Center – India in Bengaluru. Under this strategic partnership, TCS absorbed a significant portion of the center's engineering assets and specialized talent to continue supporting GM’s global vehicle programs, next-generation mobility initiatives, and electric vehicle platforms while scaling engineering service deliveries. Financially, General Motors Technical Centre India Private Limited maintains an authorized share capital of INR 65 crore (Rs. 650,000,000) and a paid-up capital of approximately INR 60.2 crore (Rs. 601,967,230).
