Alivus Life Sciences Limited, formerly known as Glenmark Life Sciences Limited, is a leading Indian pharmaceutical company specializing in the development, manufacture, and marketing of high-value, non-commoditized Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, with its registered office located in Solapur, the company primarily focuses on chronic therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular disease, central nervous system disorders, pain management, diabetes, respiratory ailments, dermatology, and oncology. In addition to its core API business, the company operates a robust Contract Development and Manufacturing Operations (CDMO) vertical, providing specialized services to specialty pharmaceutical organizations worldwide. The business traces its origins back to 2001 when Glenmark Pharmaceuticals initially established its specialized API division. Formally incorporated as Zorg Laboratories Private Limited in June 2011, the entity was acquired by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals in July 2018, subsequently changing its name to Glenmark Life Sciences. The company successfully went public in August 2021, listing its equity shares on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). A major structural transition occurred in March 2024, when Nirma Limited, a diversified Indian conglomerate with interests in consumer products, cement, and chemicals, acquired a 75% majority stake in the company from Glenmark Pharmaceuticals for approximately INR 5,651 crore (USD 680 million). To mark this new corporate era under Nirma's ownership, the company officially rebranded as Alivus Life Sciences Limited in January 2025. Alivus Life Sciences maintains a strong manufacturing and operational footprint, featuring state-of-the-art research and development centers alongside multiple production facilities across India. Its key manufacturing plants are situated in Ankleshwar and Dahej in Gujarat, as well as Kurkumbh and Mohol in Maharashtra. The company has actively scaled its infrastructure, executing major brownfield expansions such as adding independent manufacturing modules and a dedicated oncology plant at the Dahej facility. These advanced production environments comply with stringent global quality standards, earning certifications from prominent regulatory authorities including the US-FDA, Japan's PMDA, Korea's FDA, Brazil's ANVISA, and the WHO-GMP. Financially, under the leadership of CEO Dr. Yasir Rawjee, the company commands a solid market presence with a market capitalization exceeding INR 13,600 crore as of mid-2026. Alivus Life Sciences exports its extensive portfolio of over 100 API products to an expansive global network spanning regulated markets like North America, Europe, and Japan, alongside Latin America and India, driving long-term healthcare solutions through innovation and sustainable chemistry.
