Haptik, operating officially as Jio Haptik Technologies Limited, is a prominent Indian enterprise conversational AI platform that designs, builds, and deploys AI-powered virtual assistants and chatbots for automated customer engagement. Founded in August 2013 by Aakrit Vaish and Swapan Rajdev, the company is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, with additional corporate footprints in locations such as Frisco, Texas. Haptik stands as one of the world's largest conversational AI platforms, pioneering digital solutions that enable users to interact with applications and electronic devices in free-format, natural language using text or speech. The company’s technology infrastructure leverages a blend of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced natural language processing. Its platform deploys five key types of virtual assistants: AI Voice Agents for telephone customer care, Support Agents for automated troubleshooting, Sales Agents for guided conversions, Booking Agents for processing reservations, and Lead Qualification Bots for managing marketing pipelines. Operating at scale, Haptik handles complex automated workflows across more than 100 languages, integrating seamlessly with enterprise databases and digital messaging channels such as WhatsApp, mobile applications, websites, and voice interfaces. A major inflection point in Haptik's corporate history occurred in April 2019, when Reliance Industries, through its subsidiary Jio Platforms Limited, acquired a majority 87% stake in the company in a transaction valued at $100 million (approximately INR 700 crore). Prior to this acquisition, Haptik had raised around $12.2 million in venture capital funding across multiple financing rounds, including a $1 million Series A from Kalaari Capital in September 2014 and an $11.2 million Series B from Times Internet in April 2016. Following the Reliance transaction, the company was integrated into Jio’s extensive digital and telecommunications ecosystem. Haptik also expanded its capabilities by acquiring Buzzo.ai, an AI startup specialized in e-commerce personalization. Haptik operates under a hybrid business-to-business (B2B) enterprise SaaS model, serving major corporate clients through custom, usage-based subscription agreements. Unlike generic chatbot builders, Haptik exclusively targets large enterprise organizations and Fortune 500-level brands in heavily regulated and high-volume sectors like telecommunications, healthcare, insurance, finance, retail, and travel. Its extensive client roster includes Indian corporate giants such as Jio, Kotak Life Insurance, PVR Inox cinemas, Pepperfry, Upstox, Samsung, and Tata. The company has processed over two billion customer conversations globally. Backed by strategic partnerships with OpenAI and Microsoft, Haptik delivers cutting-edge language model access while maintaining stringent enterprise-grade security and international compliance certifications, including ISO, GDPR, CCPA, and FIPS 140-2 frameworks.
