Hatsun Agro Product Limited, commonly referred to as Hatsun or HAP, stands as India's largest private sector dairy company. Headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the company was founded in 1970 by R. G. Chandramogan. Over more than five decades of operation, HAP has evolved from a small ice cream manufacturer into a massive integrated dairy enterprise with a substantial domestic footprint and a growing global presence. Financially, Hatsun Agro Product is a publicly traded entity listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, the company reported a revenue of INR 9,972.94 crore and a net income of INR 360.60 crore. Under the leadership of Chairman R. G. Chandramogan and Managing Director C. Sathyan, HAP employs thousands of workers and operates a network of technically advanced processing plants across India. The cornerstone of Hatsun’s business model is its direct procurement system. The company sources fresh milk daily from an extensive network of over 400,000 farmers spread across thousands of villages, primarily in South India. This direct-to-farmer approach ensures transparent pricing, strict quality control, and an efficient supply chain that feeds into its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. HAP specializes in the production, processing, and marketing of liquid milk alongside high-margin, value-added dairy products (VADP). Its flagship liquid milk brand, Arokya, is a household name celebrated for its purity and standardization through advanced homogenization, pasteurization, and bacteria clarification processes. Beyond liquid milk, Hatsun possesses a diverse brand portfolio that dominates multiple consumer segments. Arun Icecreams is one of South India's leading ice cream brands, distributed through a vast franchise network. In the premium segment, the company operates Ibaco, an exclusive chain of scoop shops offering premium ice creams and ice cream cakes. Under the Hatsun brand name, the company manufactures and markets daily dairy essentials including curd, paneer, butter, buttermilk, skimmed milk powder, and Agmark-certified ghee. HAP also produces specialized products like Hatsun Santosa Full Cream Milk tailored for the hospitality and catering sectors, and Santosa cattle feed to help farmers optimize livestock nutrition. In 2025, the company expanded its regional footprint by acquiring the Bhubaneswar-based dairy firm Milk Mantra for INR 233 crore, incorporating the "Milky Moo" brand. Hatsun manages its distribution through a captive retail network consisting of more than 4,000 "HAP Daily" outlets alongside traditional retail partnerships, giving it tight control over cold-chain logistics. Its core markets span Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Puducherry, Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Internationally, HAP exports industrial dairy ingredients to over 40 countries across North America, the Middle East, and South Asian markets.
