New Delhi
Hero MotoCorp Limited is a prominent Indian multinational motorcycle and scooter manufacturer headquartered in New Delhi, India. Established on January 19, 1984, as a technological joint venture between India's Hero Cycles and Japan's Honda Motor Company, the partnership operated under the name Hero Honda Motors Limited for over two decades. This collaboration turned out to be one of the most successful joint ventures in the global automotive industry, helping the company achieve the position of the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer in terms of unit sales in 2001—a position it has held for 25 consecutive years. In 2011, Honda sold its 26% stake to the Munjal family, ending the joint venture, which led to the rebranding of the enterprise as Hero MotoCorp Limited. Today, Hero MotoCorp is the global leader in the two-wheeler industry, commanding a market share of approximately 30% in the Indian domestic market. The company possesses an extensive manufacturing footprint consisting of eight globally benchmarked facilities. Six of these plants are located in India (Dharuhera, Gurugram, Haridwar, Neemrana, Vadodara, and Tirupati), supplemented by two international manufacturing facilities located in Colombia and Bangladesh. Together, these plants deliver a massive annual production capacity exceeding 9 million units. To support its vast manufacturing operations, Hero MotoCorp operates two state-of-the-art Research and Development centers: the Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, India, and Hero Tech Center GmbH in Germany. The company's diverse product portfolio ranges from 100cc commuter motorcycles to 440cc premium models and scooters. Iconic models like the Hero Splendor have consistently served as market anchors, selling over one million units annually. Expanding its market reach, the company has entered the premium segment with models like the Karizma XMR, Mavrick 440, and the Harley-Davidson X440, while also launching its dedicated electric vehicle brand, Vida EV, to advance sustainable mobility solutions. To enhance customer engagement, the company has introduced "Hero Premia" premium retail outlets. Hero MotoCorp's distribution framework encompasses an extensive sales and service network featuring over 6,000 touchpoints across India, while its international footprint extends to over 52 countries across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Financially, Hero MotoCorp is publicly listed on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). For the fiscal year 2025, the company reported an annual revenue of ₹41,967 crore, an operating income of ₹6,095 crore, and a consolidated net income of ₹4,375 crore. Managed by prominent leadership including Executive Chairman Dr. Pawan Munjal and CEO Amit Gupta, the organization maintains a team size of over 17,000 employees. The company remains deeply committed to ESG frameworks, actively integrating eco-friendly manufacturing infrastructure, such as large-scale green areas and water-recycling systems, to pioneer the future of global mobility.
