Hopscotch is India’s largest online kids' fashion brand and an e-commerce platform that specializes in children's apparel, shoes, toys, and accessories for ages 0–14. Founded in October 2012 by Rahul Anand and co-founded by Lisa Kennedy, the company is operated under the legal entity Hit the Mark, Inc., and is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Drawing on the founders' prior experiences at prominent e-commerce portals like Diapers.com and Quidsi, Hopscotch was launched to address a significant gap in the Indian children’s retail ecosystem, which was largely fragmented and polarized between overpriced luxury labels and low-quality unbranded products. The platform operates primarily through a data-driven boutique storefront model. It leverages proprietary technology to launch over 500 new styles daily, sourcing its merchandise from a vast network of over 3,000 local and international vendors. This agile supply chain approach has enabled Hopscotch to significantly compress traditional fashion design and manufacturing life cycles from six months down to 30–45 days, effectively introducing a fast-fashion edge to the children's retail segment. By maintaining rapid design turnarounds and capitalizing on consumer data points, the platform captures high customer lifetime value, with repeat consumers accounting for nearly 80% of its overall revenue. Hopscotch has scaled to serve more than 3 million active users across 1,300 cities in India. Notably, about 70% of the platform's demand originates outside metropolitan areas, successfully targeting tier 2 and tier 3 cities where parents seek affordable yet aspirational global styles. In addition to multi-brand curation, Hopscotch introduced its own proprietary private label brands to enhance product margins and establish deeper brand equity. Financially, the company has raised substantial capital to support its logistics network, technology stack, and marketing efforts, pulling in over $130 million across several institutional funding rounds. Notable early investments included a $2 million seed round from Skype co-founder Toivo Annus, followed by an $11 million Series B round led by Velos Partners in 2015, and a $13 million Series C round led by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin’s investment arm in 2016. In June 2023, Hopscotch secured a major $20 million funding round led by the Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund to heavily upgrade its internal technology infrastructure. Other key institutional backing comes from prominent funds like RPG Ventures and Lionrock Capital. Led by its executive management, Hopscotch continues to drive growth through its tech-first curation approach, and it has initiated pilots to explore omnichannel expansion alongside major offline retailers to augment its digital footprint.
