Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), doing business as IndianOil, is a premier Indian multinational oil and gas company headquartered in New Delhi, with its registered office in Mumbai. Operating under the administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, it holds the prestigious 'Maharatna' status. IndianOil stands as the nation's largest government-owned commercial enterprise and its largest oil refining and marketing company, consistently ranking among the top global entities on the Fortune Global 500 list. The corporation's extensive business interests span the entire hydrocarbon value chain, including oil exploration and production, refining, pipeline transportation, marketing of petroleum products, natural gas distribution, and petrochemicals production. IndianOil and its subsidiaries account for a dominant share of the Indian energy sector, historically managing nearly half of the petroleum products market share and more than a third of the national refining capacity. The IndianOil Group owns and operates 11 of India’s refineries, featuring a combined refining capacity of over 80 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA). Its cross-country pipeline network stretches over 20,000 kilometers, forming the largest energy backbone in the country to transport crude oil to refineries and finished products to high-demand centers. On the distribution side, IndianOil serves over 3 crore customers daily through a massive network of more than 42,000 retail outlets. Additionally, its prominent LPG super-brand, Indane, delivers cooking gas to over 15 crore kitchens across India. The company's specialized aviation fuel stations also service thousands of flights daily across major domestic airports, while its flagship automotive and industrial lubricant brand, SERVO, remains a leader in its segment. Financially, IndianOil is a heavyweight publicly traded entity on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, the corporation recorded a substantial consolidated revenue from operations exceeding INR 8,45,000 crore. Moving beyond traditional fossil fuels, IndianOil is rapidly diversifying into alternative and clean energy infrastructure to meet India's future sustainability goals. This includes expanding its city gas distribution footprint, scaling up electric vehicle charging stations in collaboration with mobility platforms, and leading initiatives in green hydrogen, compressed biogas under the 'IndiGreen' brand, and high-blend ethanol fuels like E20 and Ethanol 100. Led by Chairman Arvindar Singh Sahney and supported by a robust workforce of nearly 30,000 employees, IndianOil continues to expand its global footprint through active subsidiaries and joint ventures in regions such as Sri Lanka (Lanka IOC), Mauritius (IndianOil Mauritius Ltd), and the Middle East, reinforcing its strategic objective to remain a transnational, integrated energy major.
