Isuzu Motors India Private Limited (IMIPL) is a prominent manufacturer and marketer of multipurpose pickup trucks and sports utility vehicles (SUVs) in India. Established in August 2012, the company operates as a key subsidiary of the global automotive giant Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan. It functions as a strategic joint venture, with the Isuzu group holding a majority 62% stake (divided between Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan at 19.84% and Isuzu Motors Asia Limited, Singapore at 42.16%) and Mitsubishi Corporation holding the remaining 38% stake. The corporate head office is located in Vadapalani, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. To establish its local manufacturing footprint, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government and inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in April 2016. Spread across 107 acres in Sri City, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, this facility boasts an annual production capacity of 50,000 units and is built to match Isuzu’s rigorous global manufacturing standards. The facility rolls out locally manufactured vehicles, beginning with the iconic Isuzu D-Max and V-Cross models. IMIPL primarily serves the utility and adventure vehicle segments. Its Indian portfolio features the Isuzu D-Max commercial pickup range—including variants like the Regular Cab Flat Deck and S-CAB—alongside the premium Isuzu MU-X, a large-sized automatic sports utility vehicle. Notably, the company introduced the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, celebrated as India's first adventure utility vehicle tailored for personal lifestyle and off-roading segments. Beyond fully built vehicles, the plant also manufactures precision engines and transmissions, integrating its operations deeply into Isuzu's global supply chain. Financially, Isuzu Motors India has achieved strong operational growth, reporting total operating revenue of INR 3,431.49 crore for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, alongside a net profit after tax of INR 62.76 crore. The company maintains a highly favorable and conservative financial profile; it is entirely debt-free, sustained by need-based, continuous equity infusions from its parent group, which have totaled over INR 3,000 crore since inception. The company operates with a strong export orientation. Shipments to international group entities account for approximately 89% of its total operational revenue. It acts as a vital manufacturing hub for emerging markets, exporting extensively to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Egypt, and neighboring nations like Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Domestically, Isuzu operates an expanding retail footprint managed via 43 dedicated dealer outlets across major metropolitan and Tier-1 cities, supported by a workforce of over 830 employees. Led by Managing Director Rajesh Mittal, the company continues to foster innovation, enterprise, and superior Japanese automotive engineering across the Indian subcontinent.
