New Delhi
Mankind Pharma Limited is a leading Indian multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare company headquartered in New Delhi. Incorporated in 1991 and actively commencing operations in 1995, the company was founded by brothers Ramesh C. Juneja and Rajeev Juneja with a seed capital of ₹50 lakhs and 20 employees. Initially targeting price-sensitive formulations primarily within rural markets, Mankind has grown into India's fourth-largest pharmaceutical company by domestic sales and ranks second by volume. The company is publicly traded on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), maintaining a market capitalization exceeding ₹1,00,000 crore. The company's core operations bridge the pharmaceutical formulations and consumer healthcare sectors, focusing on providing high-quality, affordable, and accessible medicines. Mankind features a diverse domestic product portfolio spanning acute and chronic therapeutic segments, including anti-infectives, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, anti-diabetic, respiratory, dermatology, gynaecology, and neuro/CNS. It has an established track record of building and scaling brands in-house, such as Amlokind and Telmikind in cardiac care, Moxikind and Gudcef in anti-infectives, and Nurokind in vitamins. Chronic therapies have steadily increased their share in the company’s portfolio, reaching approximately 36% of sales. In 2007, Mankind successfully entered the consumer healthcare industry, establishing dominant household brands. It holds a staggering 80% market share in the pregnancy test kit category with Prega News and a 28% market share in the condom category with Manforce. Other highly recognized over-the-counter (OTC) and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands include Unwanted-72 (emergency contraception), Gas-O-Fast (antacids), and AcneStar. Mankind has transitioned into a vertically integrated organization supported by robust manufacturing capabilities and an extensive distribution framework. The company operates over 30 manufacturing facilities across India—including major hubs in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttarakhand—and Nepal. Roughly 75% of its manufacturing is handled in-house, backed by active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) facilities that ensure backward integration. Its research and development infrastructure includes 6 dedicated R&D centers staffed by over 660 scientists. In 2019, Mankind achieved a global milestone by becoming the first Indian company to develop and launch Dydrogesterone (under the brand Dydroboon) for high-risk pregnancies. Domestically focused, India accounts for roughly 87% to 92% of Mankind's total revenue, supported by a massive distribution network of over 16,000 field force members and 13,000 stockists. Strategically expanding into export markets and super-specialty segments, the company completed a landmark acquisition of Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV) in 2024 for an enterprise value of ₹13,630 crore, positioning it strongly in immunotherapy, women's health, and critical care. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, Mankind Pharma reported a consolidated revenue from operations of ₹12,207 crore and a net income of ₹2,007 crore, led by Chairman Ramesh Juneja, Managing Director Rajeev Juneja, and CEO Sheetal Arora.
