Formed in June 2000 through the strategic merger of the US-based IT consulting firm Mphasis Corporation, founded in 1998 by Jerry Rao and Jeroen Tas, and the Indian IT services company BFL Software Limited, incorporated in 1992, Mphasis has evolved into an AI-led, platform-driven enterprise serving marquee clients worldwide. The company is publicly traded on both the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange under the ticker symbols MPHASIS and 526299, respectively. The core operations of Mphasis focus on delivering next-generation cloud and cognitive services, infrastructure technology outsourcing, application management, architecture guidance, and business process outsourcing services. The company specializes in integrating artificial intelligence and autonomy into every layer of the enterprise technology stack, relying on its proprietary Front2Back transformation framework to deliver hyper-personalized digital experiences. It serves a wide array of industries, including banking and capital markets, insurance, logistics, transportation, healthcare, life sciences, and manufacturing. Over the years, Mphasis has launched several advanced AI platforms, such as Mphasis NeoIP, NeoZeta, NeoCrux, and Mphasis Tria, an enterprise agency platform aimed at accelerating its evolution into a platform-led AI enterprise. Throughout its corporate history, Mphasis has undergone significant ownership transitions. In 2006, Electronic Data Systems acquired a majority stake in the company. Following Hewlett-Packard's acquisition of Electronic Data Systems in 2008, Mphasis operated as an independent Hewlett-Packard subsidiary, achieving the milestone of 1 billion dollars in revenues in 2010. In 2016, the global private equity major Blackstone Group acquired the majority stake from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and today Blackstone remains the primary promoter, holding approximately 39.85% ownership. Financially, Mphasis maintains robust performance. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, the company reported a consolidated revenue of INR 14,484 crore (approximately 1.5 billion US dollars), an operating income of INR 2,260 crore, and a net income of INR 1,702 crore. Trailing twelve months figures point to revenues crossing INR 158.80 billion. The company employs over 30,000 people globally across 21 countries, including major delivery centers and corporate offices in India, the United States, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East. Mphasis continues to expand its domain capabilities via strategic acquisitions, such as Salesforce partner Silverline in 2023 and Theory and Practice Business Intelligence Inc. in 2026 to enhance its decisioning intelligence capabilities.
