The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) is the premier non-governmental trade association, apex body, and chamber of commerce for the technology industry in India. NASSCOM’s expansive membership base includes more than 3,000 companies, ranging from early-stage startups and domestic service providers to large multinational corporations operating within India. Collectively, these member organizations constitute approximately 90% to 95% of the Indian IT-BPM (Information Technology-Business Process Management) industry revenues, which is valued at over $250 billion. The technology sector remains one of the highest employment generators within India's private sector, contributing significantly to the nation's GDP, exports, and global positioning as a technology powerhouse. To drive its multi-faceted initiatives, NASSCOM operates through several key affiliations and specialized entities. Among these is the NASSCOM Foundation, a non-profit arm established in 2001 that advocates for "TechForGood," focusing on digital literacy, skilling, and marginalized community empowerment. Another critical affiliate is the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), which is committed to making cyberspace safe and trusted by establishing security practices, standards, and data privacy frameworks. Additionally, through its Sector Skills Council and the modern Future Skills platform, NASSCOM actively addresses talent development, aiming to upscale and bridge the digital talent gap in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT). In terms of leadership, NASSCOM has been shaped by prominent industry professionals and founders like Harish Mehta, Nandan Nilekani, and Dewang Mehta. Today, the organization functions under the leadership of its President, Rajesh Nambiar, alongside Chairperson Sindhu Gangadharan (SVP & MD of SAP Labs India) and Vice Chairperson Srikanth Velamakanni.
