Orient Electric Limited (OEL) is a prominent Indian multinational electrical equipment manufacturer and a key constituent of the diversified USD 2.4 to 3 billion CK Birla Group. Headquartered in New Delhi, India, the company has established itself over nearly seven decades as a trusted household brand and a major player in the consumer electrical durables industry. Originally operating as a division of Orient Paper & Industries Limited, the business underwent a strategic demerger in 2017 and subsequently listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) under the ticker symbols ORIENTELEC and 541301 in May 2018. The company's comprehensive business operations are strategically structured into two primary divisions: Electrical Consumer Durables (ECD) and Lighting & Switchgear. Under the ECD segment, which contributes the majority of its turnover, Orient Electric is recognized as the largest manufacturer and exporter of fans in India, commanding a dominant share of over 60 percent in the nation's fan exports. Its extensive fan portfolio includes ceiling, portable, wall, pedestal, and exhaust fans. In addition to fans, its home appliances line features a wide array of products such as air coolers, water heaters, dry and steam irons, induction cooktops, mixer grinders, and electric kettles. The Lighting & Switchgear vertical comprises energy-efficient LED bulbs, professional luminaires, decorative outdoor lighting, modular switches, sockets, and automated switchgears like miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) utilizing advanced snap-disc bi-metal technology. Orient Electric supports its market leadership through strong infrastructure and expansive supply chain assets. It operates modern, integrated manufacturing plants located across India in key hubs including Kolkata, Faridabad, Noida, and Guwahati. The company’s domestic footprint is reinforced by a well-organized logistics network comprising 37 offices and warehouses, spanning 28 states and 8 Union Territories. Its last-mile retail reach extends to more than 5,000 dealers and 125,000 retail outlets across 450 cities, alongside dedicated service centers and over 30,000 engaged electrical partners. Internationally, Orient Electric has built a strong footprint across more than 30 to 40 global markets. It also drives consumer engagement via exclusive franchise-based "Smart Shops." Driven by continuous innovation and research and development, Orient Electric pioneered the patented Peak Speed Performance Output (PSPO) technology in the 1990s and later introduced next-generation energy-efficient BLDC motor fans. It recently expanded its lifestyle tech offerings with innovations like India’s first oxygen-enriching fan, the Aero O2. Financially, for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, Orient Electric reported a total operational revenue of INR 3,326.4 crore, reflecting a 7.5 percent growth from the previous year. The organization is currently steered by Chairman Chandra Kant Birla and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ravindra Singh Negi.
