The Panasonic India Innovation Centre (IIC) was established in 2017 in Bangalore (Bengaluru), Karnataka, as a specialized division of Panasonic Life Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. Founded in collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) through a joint Center of Excellence (CoE), the center serves as Panasonic's first major innovation hub in India. Operating from a state-of-the-art facility, the IIC was strategically designed to function independently from the parent company's standard operations to cultivate an agile environment, foster open innovation, and build technology-driven products tailored for both domestic and global emerging markets. The core objective of the Panasonic India Innovation Centre is to leverage new-age, cutting-edge technologies to drive digital transformation and create disruptive business lines. The center specializes in the development and integration of the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cloud Computing, Data Science, and Robotics. By analyzing vast streams of data generated by connected devices, the IIC extracts valuable insights into customer behavior and operational trends, allowing it to solve real-world problems in real time, reduce corporate costs, maximize efficiency, and eliminate system downtime. The center’s transformative solutions focus primarily on five key domains: Connected Home/Community, Mobility, Energy, Industrial, and Finance Solutions. Under its "Indovation" strategy—which focuses on weaving localized Indian solutions into Panasonic’s global framework—the IIC successfully developed and launched "Miraie," Panasonic’s flagship IoT and AI-enabled connected living platform. Named after the Japanese word for "future home," Miraie empowers consumers by offering seamless connectivity, comfort, and commercial control across a wide range of smart appliances, including connected air conditioners, smart doorbells, plugs, and switches. Additionally, the IIC drives process innovation by engineering digital platforms like E-warranty systems and direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-stores to optimize internal business processes and enhance the overarching customer experience. Led by Chief Innovation Officer Manish Misra, the IIC champions a collaborative "fail fast" philosophy to accelerate rapid ideation, modeling, software development, and agile execution. The center actively partners with next-generation local startups, academic institutions, and industry experts to nurture young talent and explore new frontiers in technology. By combining global innovation practices with a deep understanding of the Indian consumer landscape, the Panasonic India Innovation Centre acts as a critical growth engine, continuously transforming Panasonic's business model from traditional hardware manufacturing into a comprehensive, software-driven provider of sustainable, connected consumer and enterprise solutions.
