PlaySimple Games is a global mobile entertainment company headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, specializing in the development of free-to-play casual mobile games. Founded on November 24, 2014, by Suraj Nalin, Preeti Reddy, Siddhanth Jain, and Siddharth Jain, the studio initially set out with a vision to build an expansive network of social word games. Over the years, PlaySimple has grown into a dominant force in the global mobile gaming arena, particularly within the word puzzle genre, catering to millions of daily active users worldwide across major international markets including North America, Europe, and Asia. The studio operates a robust portfolio of over 30 live casual mobile titles distributed across five core categories: search, crossword, anagram, other word games, and non-word puzzles. Its highly engaging, cross-generational lineup includes popular chart-topping games such as Daily Themed Crossword, Word Trip, Crossword Jam, Word Jam, and Word Search Explorer. Its flagship game, Word Search Explorer, ranked first in word games across 68 countries by downloads in 2025. Between January 2015 and December 2025, PlaySimple recorded a massive cumulative total of 424.61 million downloads globally. During calendar year 2025 alone, the studio captured approximately 14 percent of the 731 million global word game downloads, securing its position as a top-ranked mobile word game developer worldwide. A foundational element of PlaySimple’s scaling success is its highly data-driven approach to product development and player retention. The studio leverages its proprietary in-house modular technology infrastructure, known as the Flow Platform or Little Engine, to optimize game development, ad tech integration, and monetization efficiencies. The company primarily generates revenue through in-app advertising networks and the sale of virtual goods, such as extra attempts or in-game hints. Reflecting its financial scale, PlaySimple emerged as the largest Indian pure-play casual mobile games company by revenue for the fiscal year 2025, posting a consolidated operational revenue of INR 2,259.82 crore, up from INR 1,876.86 crore in FY2024, alongside a net profit of INR 359.03 crore. Early in its corporate journey, PlaySimple raised approximately $4.5 million in venture funding through Series A and seed rounds backed by prominent institutional firms like Chiratae Ventures and Elevation Capital. In July 2021, the company achieved a major milestone when it was acquired by the Stockholm-based international gaming giant Modern Times Group MTG AB for over INR 2,691 crore (approximately $360 million). Following the acquisition, PlaySimple became a wholly-owned subsidiary of MTG, establishing the bedrock for MTG's Casual District cluster. In 2026, the company advanced its next phase of corporate growth by filing draft red herring prospectus papers with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to launch a public listing on the NSE and BSE. The proposed INR 3,150 crore initial public offering (IPO) is structured as a pure offer for sale (OFS) by its promoter entity, MTGx Gaming Holding AB. Today, the studio continues its operations out of its Bangalore headquarters with a growing workforce of over 350 employees.
