River Mobility Private Limited, widely known as River, is an innovative Indian electric vehicle startup that integrates advanced design principles with modern technology to reshape urban personal transportation. Founded in March 2021 by entrepreneurs Aravind Mani (who serves as CEO) and Vipin George (who serves as Chief Product Officer and CTO), the company is headquartered in the technology hub of Bengaluru, Karnataka. While River is officially classified as an active, private unlisted Indian non-government company, its co-founders often describe it fundamentally as a design company focused heavily on enriching people's everyday lives through highly utilitarian and beautifully engineered personal mobility solutions. The company’s flagship product is the River Indie, creatively marketed as the SUV of scooters. This utility-first electric scooter is designed and manufactured completely in India, standing out in the competitive two-wheeler market through its emphasis on robust durability, extensive storage space, and practicality for everyday urban commuters. River initially operated in stealth mode out of a modest facility in Hoodi, Bengaluru, immersing its core team in intensive research, development, and prototyping. By August 2022, operations transitioned to a massive corporate headquarters in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Shortly thereafter, the company established its specialized semi-automatic assembly manufacturing factory in Hoskote, Bangalore Rural. The production rollout of the River Indie officially commenced in August 2023, followed by its commercial launch in October 2023. By mid-2025, the company celebrated a major milestone of producing over 10,000 units from its Hoskote facility. Financially, River Mobility has built strong momentum, generating consolidated annual revenues between INR 100 crore and INR 500 crore for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. This rapid growth has been supported by significant international investment. The startup has raised approximately 68 to 70 million dollars over multiple funding rounds, drawing backing from prominent global mobility and venture capital firms such as Yamaha Motor Corporation, Toyota Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC. To support its expanding customer base, River has undertaken an aggressive nationwide retail expansion strategy, opening multi-brand and flagship showrooms across key Indian cities, including Delhi, Hyderabad, and Tirupati, while actively preparing to eye export opportunities across eleven countries. With a dedicated team that grew to over 900 employees, the company continues to focus heavily on scalability. River has outlined an ambitious product pipeline that includes the upcoming launch of its second electric scooter model by mid-2026, which aims to adhere to the brand's signature lifestyle-utility template while delivering further enhancements for the evolving needs of modern urban commuters.
