SBI Mutual Fund is one of India's largest, oldest, and most prominent asset management companies (AMCs). Established on June 29, 1987, and incorporated on February 7, 1992, it became the first non-UTI bank-sponsored mutual fund house in the country. The company operates as a premier joint venture between the State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest public sector bank, and Amundi Asset Management, a leading European asset management firm based in France. As per their long-standing partnership agreement, the State Bank of India holds a majority stake of approximately 62% in SBI Funds Management Limited (SBIFML), while Amundi owns around 37% through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Amundi India Holding. Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the firm operates out of its primary corporate offices located in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Over nearly four decades of operation, SBI Mutual Fund has established a massive pan-India footprint, managing an extensive network of over 260 branches and serving more than 15 million unique investors. The company caters to clients across approximately 99% of India's postal pin codes, making mutual fund investments accessible to both urban centers and rural masses. SBI Mutual Fund offers a robust and comprehensive suite of domestic and international investment solutions tailored to various financial goals and risk profiles. Its extensive product portfolio includes over 53 open-ended domestic schemes across major asset categories: equity funds (including large-cap, mid-cap, small-cap, and sector-specific strategies), debt funds for capital preservation and liquidity management, hybrid funds, liquid schemes, and passive solutions such as Index Funds and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Notably, the company is recognized as India’s largest ETF manager and was a pioneer in launching the country's first 'Contra' fund (SBI Contra Fund) as well as India's first Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) fund. Beyond retail mutual funds, the AMC manages customized multi-asset segregated portfolios for large provident funds, corporate treasuries, high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), offshore funds, and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs). Financially, SBI Mutual Fund stands as a dominant force in the Indian financial sector, consistently holding the top industry rank in terms of assets under management. It was the first mutual fund house in India to cross the historic milestone of INR 9 Lakh Crore in AUM, with recent figures indicating a quarterly average AUM (QAAUM) exceeding INR 29,032 billion. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, the firm reported substantial operational revenue of approximately ₹4,240 crore, supported by an institutional workforce of over 1,800 active employees. The corporate leadership includes Managing Director and CEO Nand Kishore alongside Deputy Managing Director & Joint CEO D.P. Singh, who oversee an investment team of experienced market researchers and fund managers dedicated to active portfolio management and risk mitigation.
