Shop101 is a prominent Indian social commerce and online reselling platform that empowers small business owners, individual sellers, and micro-entrepreneurs—such as homemakers, working professionals, and students—to establish online storefronts with zero upfront capital investment. Founded in June 2015 by Abhinav Jain, Aditya Gupta, and Kalpak Chhajed, the company is legally registered as O(1) India Private Limited and maintains its corporate headquarters in the commercial hub of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The core business model of Shop101 centers on democratizing e-commerce through a mobile-first philosophy. The platform acts as a full-stack marketplace connecting a massive supply chain infrastructure with individual distributors. It hosts a network of over 10,000 verified suppliers and manufacturers spanning across more than 100 multi-category products, including apparel, electronics, and home decor accessories. Through its free mobile application, available on both Android and iOS devices, registered resellers can select products from the marketplace, apply their own profit margins, and seamlessly share product links across popular social networks like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. Once an order is confirmed by the end consumer, Shop101 manages the end-to-end operational processing, which encompasses pan-India logistics, inventory tracking, cash-on-delivery collection, automated invoicing, and returns handling. Profits earned from these sales are credited directly to the resellers' bank accounts on a weekly basis. Since its inception, Shop101 has demonstrated significant scale, expanding its reach to serve millions of customers across 2,000 towns throughout India. Over time, the platform has registered more than 1 Crore (10 million) individual resellers, driving substantial volume in the domestic online seller ecosystem. In its growth phase, the startup secured strong institutional backing, raising approximately $22 million in total funding across multiple venture capital rounds. Key stakeholders and prominent investors who participated in these rounds included Kalaari Capital, Stellaris Venture Partners, Unilever Ventures, and Vy Capital. In a strategic consolidation within the Indian digital media and mobile commerce sector, Shop101 was fully acquired by Glance on June 14, 2021. Glance, a major screen-zero content discovery platform backed by Google and Mithril Partners, operates as part of the multinational tech conglomerate InMobi Group. Following the acquisition, Shop101 integrated its full-stack e-commerce technology and comprehensive logistics framework with Glance and its short-video platform, Roposo. This structural integration was designed to launch celebrity and influencer-led live commerce experiences globally, leveraging Glance's extensive user base of over 125 million daily active users to redefine mobile shopping experiences directly on smartphone lock screens. Operating under the broader InMobi ecosystem, Shop101 continues to advance localized social selling and independent entrepreneurship across India.
